DARLING2007

REVIEWS:

Darling is a thriller Hindi film released last 2007. It reportedly grossed more than 20 million on its first week. So to give you an insight on why you should watch this movie, here’s a review on the popular Hindi movie, Darling:
But first, here’s a short synopsis of the said film, so you’ll have an idea on what to expect:

The story revolves on an accomplished and enviable man, Aditya. Aditya is a successful executive and the husband of the beautiful Ashwini. The couple has a child but Aditya has an extramarital affair with his secretary, Geeta. While he cleverly deceives both women with lies and excuses, he promises to tie the knot with Geeta after divorcing Ashwini.

The plan was going smoothly until Geeta became pregnant. Stunned of the sudden news, Aditya tried to disown the baby. This enraged Geeta and a thrilling fight between Aditya and Geeta ensued. The fight concluded as Aditya accidentally pushes her on a rough surface, which eventually killed her. He buried her body and went home like nothing happened. Then, Greeta appears as a ghost to exact revenge on Aditya. She makes her self visible to frighten Aditya. Ashwini notices her husband’s erratic behavior and confronts him about it. Because of guilt, Aditya confesses to Ashwini about his affair with Geeta. Ashwini was angered and met an accident as she fled the house.

The film ended when Geeta was able to forgive Aditya and Ashwini recovered after Geeta forgave Aditya, but Geeta’s ghost already possessed her.

With all the expectations in line for Darling, director Ram Gopal Varma delivered well. Darling has all the elements of an enjoyable, thrilling movie. It’s not goofy enough for a comedy film and not too shallow for a horror film. The plot implemented a lot of twists, which makes the movie unpredictable and will keep you hanging on to your seats.

The actors also portrayed their characters quite convincingly. Esha Deol’s portrayal of the dead mistress was compelling thanks to her gloomy expressions; her menacing glances and her ruffled hair.

Fardeen Khan acts delivered his lines well although sometimes, he can be expressionless. Nevertheless, Fardeen generally did well in bringing out the complex character that is Aditya.

You can laugh out at some moments while quite spooky scenes can make your heart go flutter that you seem to forget how to breathe. Generally, an enjoyable movie worth watching in the comforts of your own home.
